Our caucus meeting was held last night Thursday March 20 at West Jordan Middle School There were 38 registered Republicans in attendance. Fifteen of these people registered for the meeting online using the new Voter Click system. There were no Same Day Ballots brought to the meeting. There were also no ballots submitted by email from military and religious service citizens. The Republican Party Platform was read and there was some interesting political discussion. We elected Precinct officers, two state delegates and four county delegates. Here the election results with contact information for those who will be serving us.

Sean Reyes is running for Utah Attorney General

Dear Fellow Utahn, It has been an honor and privilege to serve you and the State of Utah over the past several months. I feel my team and I have accomplished much in a short time. We have lived up to many campaign commitments I made, including an immediate audit of office resources with more audits to come and ongoing restructuring of key leadership positions. In addition, we worked closely with the legislature during the past two months to fine tune many bills and to obtain much needed funding for the office. At the same time, our team identified inefficiencies in our office and budget and returned money back to the state to demonstrate our commitment to fiscal conservatism and responsibility. We have abolished the use of administrative subpoenas in our office to protect privacy interests while still having tremendous success apprehending dangerous suspects who threaten our families and children on the Internet, in school and on the streets. We have worked to reform asset forfeiture, search procedures and deter intrusive tracking of citizen information through various means. We have also focused efforts on visiting rural counties, dealing with a number of county/federal law enforcement issues and pushing forward on public lands lawsuits and education. This includes pressing on with RS 2477 Road cases, coordinating resources for a possible lawsuit on federal lands and filing or joining lawsuits against the EPA in multiple venues. Significantly, we have shown Utah's support for 2nd Amendment protections by joining West Virginia in its Supreme Court battle and other states in fighting against the Obama Administration's attempts to weaken gun rights. We are cracking down on white collar fraud cases and defending Utah businesses. I am pleased to report recent victories in numerous large fraud and class action settlements returning millions of dollars back to the state. We have dedicated significant time to programs protecting against identity theft, particularly in the undocumented immigrant community. In a short time, we have expanded resources to protect abused children while emphasizing and being respectful of parental and family rights. Our office has also recruited back key personnel and is assessing numerous proposals to recruit, train and retain additional top flight talent. We are addressing pay raises to promote hiring and retention, increasing internal morale, and developing training resources for issues such as document and email retention, and conflicts of interest and ethics. To promote transparency, we have produced tens of thousands of documents pursuant to GRAMA requests. I am very proud of the legal team of constitutional and Supreme Court experts we have assembled with our office to protect the sanctity of traditional marriage and Utah's constitutional right to define marriage. The dedication and caliber of work by this team in defending Amendment 3 and other Utah laws has been remarkable. Their professionalism, hard work and commitment will serve Utah well at the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals argument on April 10 and quite possibly before the United States Supreme Court this year. And those are just a few of the things we have achieved since I took the oath of office Dec. 30. While I haven't had time to move my belongings into the office or decorate walls, I have poured everything I have into the duties of the office. I am encouraged that with more time in the office, I can continue to work alongside the many excellent AG attorneys and staff to defend and protect Utah. I will continue to focus my time and energies on the vital business of the state and work diligently to regain the public’s trust in the Attorney General’s Office. While secondary to my principal responsibilities, campaigns are an important part of the political and public service process. With regard to the AG race, I look forward to healthy and respectful discussions of issues and wish all candidates who enter the best of luck. I will work hard on my campaign and appreciate so many of you who have volunteered to help. Kevin Jacobs is running for re-election as Salt Lake County Assessor

I am excited to announce that I have filed as a candidate to continue serving you as the Salt Lake County Assessor! In the six months since the Central Committee appointed me to fill Lee Gardner's term in office, I have worked very hard to make substantial changes to the office. The most significant changes include:

Reorganized the office

• I split the Real Property Division into two smaller divisions, the Residential Division and the Commercial Division.
• At the same time, I dissolved the Statistical and Modeling Division, as well as the Appeals Section, and assigned those individuals to the respective Residential or Commercial Division.
• This realignment means the two divisions have all the responsibilities and resources for their area. All phases of property valuation are now "self-contained" within each division. Appraisers and statisticians now work together as a team, which enhances their communication and makes them more accountable for the final product.
  Completely revised how appraisers are assigned their work

• Previously, appraisers would work in one area of the county and then move to another area the following year. Now, appraisers are assigned to one area and will not rotate. They will be responsible for new construction, reappraisal, and the appeals that come from their area.
• The appraisers will focus on gaining a very detailed knowledge of their area and the changes that are happening within it.
  These changes are a fundamental shift in how the office functions on a daily basis. I am committed to enhance the performance of the office, and assure you that I am working diligently to make it happen!

Caucus night has finally arrived! You still have time to pre-register if you haven't done so already. Click here to sign-in now for your neighborhood caucus meeting tonight and avoid waiting in the check-in line. If you register online you don’t have to fill out the sign-in sheet. Also, if you find out you won’t be able to make it to your Caucus, you can still vote by printing your absentee ballot and have a family member or friend bring it to your caucus in a sealed envelope (remember to sign the back of the envelope), with a copy of your I.D. (Note & Important– we will not take the copy of your I.D. It will stay in possession of the person you gave it to). Each person may bring a maximum of 3 absentee ballots. Your absentee ballot will count for every round of voting your candidates are in. We have made some changes to these meetings and our commitment is that the 2014 Caucuses last no longer than 2 hours! We have sped up the check-in process by using online registration and encouraging the precincts to limit voting to two rounds. With that, everyone should make the 2 hour goal. Neighborhood Caucus Election is One Day Away

Your Neighborhood Caucus Election is just one day away and so we wanted to provide you with a quick update on VoterClick, our official caucus night website. VoterClick allows you to pre-register early to attend your neighborhood caucus. This will save you time on March 20 and allow you to skip filling out the forms you've typically had to in past cycles. Party leaders will also be using VoterClick to enter caucus attendee and delegate information right after the meetings end. Entering this data directly into our new system will be a user friendly experience and it will allow us to have quicker access to more accurate information. It is my pleasure to announce on Friday, March 14th I filed once again to serve as your Salt Lake County Recorder. As your Salt Lake County Recorder, I have significantly modernized and improved the Salt Lake County Recorder's office. Through the use of innovation and technology I have reduced our annual budget $2.4 million. Through the use of technology and attrition I have reduced the staff size by 44%. I pioneered the use of digital technology and was the first in our state and second in the nation to implement electronic filing of documents. Currently, 60% of all recordings done in the office are done electronically. I have also taken a very expensive website and made it cost neutral. This represents a considerable savings to you, the tax payers of Salt Lake County. These innovations improve the efficiency and accuracy of our office, thus helping protect land owners from fraud. I am appreciative and humbled by the strong support you have all shown me. I am also proud and humbled to be a recipient of The Lincoln Service Award in 2014 for recognition of outstanding service and leadership on behalf of the citizens of Salt Lake County and the County Republican Party. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as your County Recorder. I will continue to look for inefficiencies and manage the office in the same fiscally conservative manner I have done in the past and make improvements to the office, as we move forward. On March 13, 2014 we had a successful Pre-Caucus Meeting for WJD030 at the home of Jeanette Drake. Dee Peel, Sharon Masters, Preston Brooksby and Mike Mahnken were in attendance. As precinct chair I greatly appreciate their willingness to help to plan our caucus meeting on March 20. With the new changes and procedures and the implementation of Voter Click it is vital that we have more involvement by the Republicans of our precinct.  We encourage everyone who is able to participate to attend our caucus meeting and to pre-register online. Steve Nelson is running for Salt Lake County District Attorney

Today, Steve Nelson, an experienced felony prosecutor in the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office, announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for Salt Lake County District Attorney and released a video on his campaign website, www.votestevenelson.com.

Steve is a graduate of West High School, Westminster College, and earned both his Juris Doctor degree and his Ph.D in Political Science at the University of Utah. Steve is married to his college sweetheart, Natalee, and they have four children. Steve has worked as a felony attorney for the last decade, prosecuting a wide range of cases including homicides, organized gang prosecutions, domestic violence, and drug distribution. Steve is recognized nationally for his work on child endangerment cases.

Steve is committed to saving taxpayer money by bringing fiscal responsibility to the District Attorney's Office. Having worked in the office for the past decade, Steve knows what works and what needs to be changed. Wayne Cushing, CPA 2014 Announcement to run for Re-election as our Salt Lake County Treasurer See My Facebook Page It was truly a humbling experience when I was elected by the public to serve as Salt Lake County Treasurer in 2010. Our campaign began in March of 2010 with the hope of convincing delegates and subsequently voters that although I was not politically connected, I had the education, financial background, and business experience to excel as the Treasurer. It was most gratifying to know that our message was heard and your trust was gained. I have not forgotten that trust and have made every effort these past three years to make improvements to the Treasurer's office. I am confident, and hopefully you will agree, that the improvements made warrant a second term in office. Some of our major accomplishments include: Total collections have increased by 10% to over $1.04 billion per year. Total delinquencies have decreased by 32% to $43 million. Total tax relief awarded to qualified recipients increased by 16 % to over $8 million. Budgets were decreased every year in areas for which we have control totaling over $140,000. Strategic investment changes increased investment income by over $430,000 since 2010. Staffing has dropped from 29 to 25. More improvements are already launched or on the horizon including: Initiated and wrote revisions to an existing tax statute that is currently moving through the 2014 legislature where tax notices may be delivered electronically to those who choose that option which can save tens of thousands of dollars in printing and postage costs. . Increased efforts to find those who truly need and qualify for tax relief . Synchronizing cash flow requirements with new investment opportunities will increase yields. Without this being a presidential election year, our party will need everyone to participate to ensure success at the polls. I would certainly welcome your vote again as part of our overall GOP success.

It has been my pleasure and an honor to serve as your County Surveyor since January 2007. Although the time has passed quickly, I have accomplished many of the things in the office I committed to you I would do, and yet I have more to do as the County Surveyor. • Developed and implemented a process allowing surveyors to file their surveys electronically. This groundbreaking process was the first of its kind in the country and creates convenience, efficiency, and greater expedience to public access of survey records.

• Created an extensive outreach program which has resulted in the development of partnerships with all sixteen local municipalities for the acquisition of new aerial photography and LIDAR data, saving local government and taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

• Expanded the Surveyor's Office website to provide dynamic and easy accessibility to a broad range of information and tools.

• Promoted efficiency in government by developing partnerships, collaborative efforts and projects with County, State and Federal offices, thus reducing the so-called "stovepipe" approach to providing services.

• Enhanced the protection of your property by adding more than 10,000 points to the Hi Accuracy GPS Control Network, which optimizes my ability to restore the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) should it be compromised.

The County Surveyor and the protection of property is an important American legacy that goes back to the days of Abraham Lincoln, early valley settlers, Thomas Jefferson and even George Washington.

There is nothing mysterious about the primary focus of the County Surveyor's Office. It's simply the systematic, consistent, open and transparent preservation of accurate property lines and boundaries. This is accomplished through the protection and perpetuation of the Public Land Survey System, from which all property is described and measured. The location and integrity of approximately 340,000 parcels of land in Salt Lake County depends on the County Surveyor, independently, performing his or her duties. Over one million people rely on the County Surveyor for the quiet enjoyment of their property. This is a responsibility I take very seriously. I've dedicated over 35 years to my profession and the protection of property. There will be a Pre-Caucus Meeting at the home of Jeanette Drake on Thursday March 13, 2014 at 7:00 PM. The address is 1856 Drake Lane (7400 South). If you haven't been here before, you get to us from Redwood Road. Come up the lane, pass the red brick house and then turn north to get to our house which is a white brick house that faces east. You will recognize the place by the dairy goats. This is the home of Drake Family Farms Goat Dairy.

We will be going over all the details for next week's Caucus Meeting. We will make plans for handling registration and for the agenda of the Caucus Meeting so that it will be an efficient, transparent meeting with maximum citizen involvement. Any questions??? Call Jeanette at 801-561-8745.

Changes to the Caucus Meetings for 2014 - Pre-register, Absentee Ballots and More

Caucus season has finally arrived! Click here to sign-in now for your neighborhood caucus meeting on March 20, 2014 and avoid waiting in the check-in line. If you register online you don’t have to fill out the sign-in sheet. Isn’t that great! Also, if you find out you won’t be able to make it to your Caucus, you can still vote by printing your absentee ballot starting at 5pm on March 19, 2014 and have a family member or friend bring it to your caucus in a sealed envelope (remember to sign the back of the envelope), with a copy of your I.D. (Note & Important– we will not take the copy of your I.D. It will stay in possession of the person you gave it to). Each person may bring a maximum of 3 absentee ballots. Your absentee ballot will count for every round of voting your candidates are in. We have made some changes to these meetings and our commitment is that the 2014 Caucuses last no longer than 2 hours! We have sped up the check-in process by using online registration and encouraging the precincts to limit voting to two rounds. With that, everyone should make the 2 hour goal. We know in 2012 many caucus meetings went very long because of the high turnout. We heard you and we have made the necessary changes.
